When we make pulled pork sandwiches for our monthly extended family dinner, this, potato salad, and/or baked beans are usually on the side.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) bag coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced

Dressing

  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or sucralose)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, toss to combine the coleslaw mix and minced onion. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together all dressing ingredients until smooth.
  3. Pour the dressing over the coleslaw mixture and toss to coat evenly.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve chilled.
